MUDr. Přemysl Sobotka

Born 18 .May 1944 in Mladá Boleslav.

After graduation from the School of General Medicine of Charles University in Prague he entered the surgical department of the Liberec Hospital, where he transferred to the X-ray department after two years. From 1991 he was a senior consultant.

MUDr. Přemysl Sobotka is a senator for the Liberec constituency, a post to which he has been elected three times (1996, 1998, 2004). Since 2004 he has been Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

He has two daughters, Věra and Martina, from his first marriage, and a stepson, Prokop, from his second marriage. His wife, Radmila, worked as a nurse.

Interests and hobbies:
Hobbies included and still include sport. Before he entered politics he played competitive volleyball and participated in alpine hiking.
